Little Elliot, Big City was an irresistibly adorable read. The story itself is so sweet and the illustrations are amazing. I love the colors and whimsy on each page, not to mention Little Elliot is just so cute you can’t help but want to be his friend. Although Little Elliot is small, he is determined to do things. Sometimes though, Little Elliot needs a little help and who better to get help from than a friend.
I love finding new stories to read to my son. As he gets older, the book choices keep expanding and I often feel overwhelmed trying to find a good story with a message. When I showed him the new book Little Elliot, Big City, he was very excited to read it. He happens to have a small spotted elephant and ran to get it before we sat down together to dive into this adorable tale about Little Elliot.
Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group will publish debut author Mike Curato’s Little Elliot, Big City on August 26, 2014, the first in a series of Little Elliot picture books with more to follow in 2015 and 2016. In this first book, readers are introduced to Little Elliot, a little polka-dotted elephant living in a big city in search of a good friend.
Amid the hustle and bustle of the big city, the big crowds and bigger buildings, Little Elliot leads a quiet life. In spite of the challenges he faces, Elliot finds many wonderful things to enjoy?like cupcakes! And when his problems seem insurmountable, Elliot discovers something even sweeter?a friend.

Little Elliot, Big City is a wonderful story about never giving up and finding friends in unexpected places. The message behind this story is perfect for young children and one my son really appreciated. This book is one I highly recommend to add to your child’s bookshelf and I know I cannot wait to read more about Little Elliot’s adventures in the future.
