A few years back Judah and I had started swim classes, but this was before he was diagnosed ASD and he had a harm time. My husband and I went through the first steps with him ourselves and now he’s ready to move onto Preschool Swimming. This encompasses learning how to enter and exit the water safely, do basic water movements, breath control, water safety and work towards independence in the water. It’s a really big step for him.
Since he is still learning about how to go in and out himself, he needed something to aid him and give him confidence in starting; that’s where the SwimWays Swim Vest comes in. The vest provides basic floatation for children that helps them learn two pre-swimming positions: floating upright and leaning forward to paddle. The front zipper has a safety closure for easy on and off and there is also a buckle that makes sure the vest is secure during swim.
The Swim Vest also comes in three different colors: Blue/Aqua, Pink/Orange and Lime/Aqua. They are also made for ages 2-4 and in 1 size. If your child is ready for a bigger size, you can move into the Power Swimr Training Vests. They have cute ones with shark fins!
To see what products will help your little swimmer, you first need to find out which Swim Step your child is on. There are a set of 3 Steps:
- Swim Step 1: First Time in the Pool
- Swim Step 2: Ready to Paddle & Splash
- Swim Step 3: Ready to Swim
