Lil Man is a character. Actually, he is quite the character and has a personality like no other kid I’ve known in my life. He lives to be funny and I swear, he doesn’t shut up! I don’t think he’s been quiet for longer than a few minutes since he began to talk. We even try to play the “Let’s see who can stop talking for 5 minutes game” but he loses within a minute every time!
I was recently contacted by Tryout to check out their service and right away, I knew it was something Lil Man would get into. You see, it’s a service that offers kids the chance to see what it takes to be discovered. Here’s a little breakdown.
At Tryout, we believe every child and parent should have free access to easily explore opportunities, hear from professionals and experts tosee what it takes, learn what skills to develop and have the chance to be discovered.Tryout’s talent network spans across numerous fields of interest, including but not limited to, SPORTS, DANCE, MUSIC, PERFORMANCE, MODELING, FINE ARTS AND MARTIAL ARTS.
Now my son doesn’t actually “perform” at anything, but I knew that he would love learning about cartoon voices and how to do them. So earlier this week, we met with Stevie Vallance via video on the Tryout website and he got to learn a few things from her. We had a half hour long session and she taught him how to use different expressions in his voice. It was so much fun watching him and he really enjoyed it! He definitely wants to do another session with her.
The thing I love most is that Stevie was very encouraging with him the entire time. He had zero experience and didn’t know exactly what to do, but she walked him through everything, telling him how great he was doing the entire time. I think that stuck with me the most because encouragement is so important to kids and it really helps to keep their interest in something that they love.
Now, what I didn’t know before all this is that Stevie was ‘Whazzat Kangaroo’ on the show Zoobilee Zoo. I used to watch that show when I was a kid and that was my favorite character! I wish I’d realized that when I chatted with her the other day. I totally would have told her!
Setting up an account on Tryout is very simple to do. You just fill in all of your information and spply to opportunities that are right for you and your child. You can massage back and forth with the pros and even request session like the one we did with Stevie Vallance. I think it’s definitely a great resource for aspiring kids! Who knows, maybe the pros at Tryout can help your kid gain the skills to be the next big star!
At Tryout, you can follow professionals and get their latest updates and apply to opportunities they publish for free! You can also purchase Tryout Credits to ask for feedback, get advice and/or schedule a one-on-one video chat. You can buy as little as 10 credits for $10 to get started with their premium services – if you wish!
