Between my job as a blogger, having a toddler who loves drawing millions of photos and a mailbox that seems to draw junk mail like a magnet, I have a lot of papers. I have papers everywhere. My husband is always complaining that every time I clear one shelf of papers another shelf seems to attract them. I was given the opportunity to work with Staples and review their 10-Sheet Cross-Cut Shredder. I was so excited to start shredding things! There is a cleansing feeling when getting rid of a lot of stuff you’ve hung onto for awhile and tackling all my old documents had been a big project that was long overdue. The amusing thing is, the Cross-Cut Shredder has multiple added safety options so in my attempt to get moving I had become confounded with the protection. In the end, I felt this was really great because it also meant that my kids couldn’t just turn on the shredder and hurt themselves!
Secondly, in order for it to start the switch underneath the component must also be turned on. So although it can be plugged in and appear to have power, if this is not switched on it will not shred. This is what stumped me for awhile! I liked this added protection because if you have the shredder in an office and it is plugged in and your child takes out the key, they still can’t hurt themselves unless they can find and figure out the switch.
