Holidays are a big thing for my family. My husband and I have made a point of celebrating every holiday since we had Big Bro; even if it was just our small {at the time} family. I wanted for my children to always experience the joys and traditions that we would celebrate each year; since there were plenty of holidays left not celebrated while I was growing up.
We’ve had many traditions for Easter, including fun egg hunts. Now that my children are older though, we celebrate with baskets full of goodies and a large family feast for dinner.
Living in a small town, we’re a bit limited on our choice of nearby stores. I’m glad that I can always depend on our local Pick ‘n Save grocery store to have good prices and great sales. Though I look at other stores’ fliers each week, their sales usually aren’t enticing enough to go out of my way to shop there. Instead, I did our early Easter Dinner shopping at Pick ‘n Save. You can view my entire shopping trip here.
The lovely Easter Lily and Butterfly balloon display welcomed me when I turned the corner by the flower department!
Their bakery department has a great selection of baked goods and desserts. A cute “Happy Easter” cookie caught my eye immediately.

After shopping, I got home and started preparing our feast in the afternoon. I made a delicious homemade Honey and Brown Sugar Ham Glaze, then got that baby in the oven.
While the ham cooked, I boiled some eggs and got the egg dye ready so that I could make some fun Colored Deviled Eggs. I’ve been seeing them all over Pinterest and Facebook so I knew the kids would get a kick out of them! For some reason, the purple ones ended up blue, but they still turned out great.
Our Easter dinner turned out absolutely perfect. I was so happy with the results and the family praised all of the delicious food that I made. The Honey and Brown Sugar Glazed Ham turned out just right; nice and juicy!
I decided to make a potato recipe that I tried a couple of months ago, Loaded Cheddar Bacon Mashed Potatoes. They turned out amazing and were the hit of our dinner! They’re so easy to make and I’ve shared the recipe with you below!

Our entire dinner turned out amazing and my family thanked me for such a wonderful meal. I may have spent half of the day in the kitchen, but it was well worth it when I heard their thanks. I’m happy that we’ve created traditions within our family and I think the kids will appreciate that when they’re older and understand a bit more about traditions. Maybe they’ll even continue some of ours with their own children. Now that would be a blessing!
What traditions does your family celebrate during holidays?
I’d love to hear about them!
