What kind of salt do you use for a salt scrub?
This salt scrub recipe calls for Epsom salt and sea salt. They key is to use more finely ground salt, rather than coarse salt when making a homemade salt scrub. You can also combine different salts, like I did in this recipe.
What is the difference between sugar scrub and salt scrub?
The main difference between a salt and sugar scrub is the size of the particles. Since the particles in sugar are smaller than those in salt, a sugar scrub like this cucumber mint sugar scrub will be more gentle on your skin. This peppermint salt scrub is wonderful for your feet though!
DIY Candy Cane Salt Scrub
Here is what you need:

1 cup Epsom salt

1 cup coarse sea salt

1/3 cup grapeseed oil
(coconut would do well too)

6 drops peppermint essential oil

4 drops red food coloring

two mixing bowls
-
air tight container such as a mason jar
Step 1: combine the salt, oil, and peppermint. Mix well.
Step 2: split the mixture into two bowls – one will be the white and add the food coloring to the other bowl. Now you have two bowls of scrub, one red and one white.
Step 3: Add one layer of the candy cane pattern into your container. Make sure to pack it down tightly. Alternate with the other color until it is full.
Step 4: Decorate! Add a pretty ribbon and a gift tag and you are ready to gift!
