Summer Fun – Scan Digital Review & Giveaway! {CLOSED}

Summer has finally arrived and we couldn’t be more excited! The weather’s nice and lots of fun is to be had. That’s why we’re celebrating this fun season as well as Mel moving into a new house on a lake here at Outnumbered 3 to 1. It’s strange to think that there was a time without digital cameras, but most of us grew up in the era of film and the introduction to 1 Hour Photo. Our histories are taped and laminated to old photo books and boxes, stored away on ancestral shelves of parents and grand-parents. Home movies taped on clunky VHS cameras and forgotten when VCR’s became outdated. In my Grandmother’s house alone, there are millions of photos in old cardboard boxes, hidden in their orange and white sleeves with negatives tapered here and there. Just in case they were shared they were doubled because there was no “uploading” and “share” buttons then, only reprints and envelopes mailed with love through the postal service. To go through our family photos it would take weeks instead of hours, it would take months to try to scan them in. Although the idea would be immeasurably desired by all of us, it is just something none of us have ever had the time for and because of this, most of us are left without the memories and our children go about never having seen our lives in the way they once were before the digital age came about and left us all with pixels in our eyes.

ScanDigital is a photo scanning service that takes these often times forgotten memories, scans and processes them into digital files so that we’re able to see and share them easily with our families. Photographs, negatives, videos and old reels recreated into .jpegs and digital movies with superb quality and understanding that what they are working with is not just photos for us, but our histories. 

This review took me a little while. I didn’t want to just take any photographs I wanted to show you how amazing this service was and how you could trust them with your precious memories. I went to my Mother’s and dug around in old boxes and plastic totes for photographs, some over half a century old, and I chose a handful of them to send to ScanDigital to work their magic on. At first my Mother was a little nervous about this, old photos do not have back ups like digital photos might. They’re paper and ink and easily torn. I assured her that they would be taken care of with the utmost respect and instead of mailing them in myself I decided to use their Digipac, their pre-packaged secure shipping option.

During our photos entire trip, ScanDigital kept me updated on where they were and what process they were in. I never had to worry about the photographs and was able to let my Mother know when they were shipped, when they arrived, processed, were being mailed out and so on. When my package arrived on it’s return, the photos were secured in bubble wrap and carefully paced alongside a DVD. I was able to put it into the computer and within moments have all the photos I had sent in and was able to immediately send them to my whole family. Something that never would have been possible without this service.

While you are out creating new memories on your summer vacations, your family reunions and special days… think of all the ones left locked inside like treasures waiting to be found and honestly consider the astonishing service ScanDigital provides. For my family, it gave us a chance to finally have the ability to all share in what made our lives so beautiful and for some of us, the knowing that these photos will always be here and will never fade nor wilt away forgotten. That is the most wonderful thing this company has given, the knowing that our story will always be there for us. The ability to immortalize our memories.
