I totally missed Flower Friday last week and I do apologize for those of you who were looking forward to their weekly flower fix. Last week was just jam packed with things to do before I left for my 4 day trip to Riviera May, Mexico. To top it all off, I was a nervous wreck for the two days leading up to the trip since it was my first time traveling out of the country - and I was doing it alone - eek! But I made it there, had the most amazing trip of my life in paradise and I even made it home safely. I'll be sharing all about my trip next week, so make sure to subscribe to our newsletter, or at the very least, stop back and check for the post.
I swear, my sunflowers nearly doubled in size while I was gone. They're all starting to bloom and one is currently in its gorgeous state of full bloom. The stalks are well over 6 feet tall and they're not even done growing yet. These flowers are massive and beautiful. Next year, I want to plant a larger sunflower garden so that I can cut flowers for inside the house!
Sunflowers are so easy to grow, starting from just a tiny little seed. They thrive in a garden with full sun and require little care. They're stalks are thick and heavy so the wind won't blow them over. The fully bloomed flower is massive, larger than my head - imagine that! Sunflowers are not only?a gorgeous flower, but you can harvest the seeds as well and they're quite tasty! I'll share how to do that later on this year, so stay tuned!
