Max and Bella love the outdoors. They love to run and play in the yard, and they really look forward to that after dinner walk. Max is a very large dog, so he really needs the exercise to help keep him in shape. Of course, his diet plays a big part of that too, and that’s why we feed him Nature’s Recipe?, a premium dog food made with real lamb, chicken or salmon as the #1 ingredient. Nutrient-dense carbohydrate sources like sweet potato and pumpkin are also found in this recipe of dog food.
As pet owners, we appreciate that Nature’s Recipe dog food is grain free and does not include any corn, wheat, soy, poultry by-product meal or artificial flavors and preservatives. Max appreciates that it is easy-to-digest and he likes the flavor. Thanks to the added?vitamins, minerals and nutrients, it provides him with the nutrition needed to fuel his life, which is just full of energy.

Dinner time is the favorite time of day for Bella and Max. They know that they will get their favorite food, and the pups also really look forward to walks or playtime after dinner. Since the cement and asphalt can be tough on their paws, we like to make sure that those paws are protected with our homemade dog paw protection wax.
This?homemade dog paw protection wax will condition your dog’s pads, while also acting as a barrier between your dog’s paws and the hazards that they might encounter during the walk outside. Protect your pup’s paws from things like rough terrain, hot sand, hot pavement, salt and chemicals, ice build-up and snowballing.
Homemade dog paw protection wax
Making this?homemade dog paw protection wax is super easy to do and literally takes just a few short minutes of preparation. Better yet, you likely already have most of the ingredients for this this?homemade dog paw protection wax in your home!
You will need the following ingredients to make the dog paw protection wax:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil
- 2 tablespoons shea butter
- 2 tablespoons beeswax
- 10 drops lavender essential oil
You’ll also want a glass bowl or double boiler on hand along with a wooden stick or spoon for stirring and a small glass jar with a lid. Puppy paw print stickers are optional but a totally cute way to decorate the jar!
Step 1. Decorate your jar, if desired.
Step 2.? Using whichever method you prefer (microwave or double boiler), melt the first 4 ingredients. I used the microwave and it took me 3 times at 30 seconds each, stirring after each time.
Step 3. Add the essential oil and stir well.
Step 4. Pour into glass jar. Let sit for about an hour to cool. The mixture will become solid during this time.
To use: Rub into your dog’s paws. He or she will likely enjoy having their paws rubbed and due to the lavender, they will not want to lick it off.
