Life can get rather busy and hectic when you juggle the day to day of work, household and/or motherhood chores. Sometimes a little break from the daily grind is in order, so I’m sharing tips for a relaxing girls getaway in Lake Geneva to help you free your mind, body and spirit; allowing you to reflect and refresh. This trip was hosted by Lake Geneva, though all opinions are my own.
Lake Geneva is a lovely resort town nestled on Geneva Lake in Southeastern Wisconsin, within a short road trip from Milwaukee, Madison and Chicago. In fact, you’ll find many beautiful mansions of wealthy Chicagoans lined along the shore of this 7.5 mile long lake. It’s a perfect summer playground for those in the Midwest, even though the city offers a great selection of fun for all throughout the entire year.
Grab one or a few of your best girlfriends and plan a getaway to this beautiful city. Whether you’re looking for spas, historical tours, shopping or dining, Lake Geneva has you covered. With so much to do and see, this city surely won’t disappoint! In fact, this week is Restaurant Week, where you can enjoy Lake Geneva dining at exceptional prices between June 3-10 and vote for a charity to receive a $5,000 Dining for a Cause donation!
Must do and see during your relaxing girls getaway in Lake Geneva
I’m sure that whatever you plan for your relaxing girls getaway in Lake Geneva will be enjoyable, but Maureen and I were completely impressed with our itinerary and highly recommend everything that was on our list!

Where to stay
Accommodations are one of the most important factors of you vacation experience and The Villas at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa are the perfect place to start your girlfriends getaway. With studio, 1, 2 and 3 bedroom private villas available, you’ll have enough space no matter the size of your crowd. Our 2 bedroom villa was the perfect place for the two of us to sprawl our and relax. The full kitchen was great for breakfast and the cozy living room a perfect place to catch up on our favorite tv shows.
One of the things that I loved most about? The Villas at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa is the outside area. Relaxing on the patio with a glass of wine was the perfect way to unwind after dinner and the surrounding trees created the feeling that you were vacationing in the woods. I’ll be sharing more about?Grand Geneva Resort & Spa later this week, so stay tuned!
Relax and unwind?
Every perfect girls getaway begins or ends at the spa and the Well Spa is the ultimate place for relaxation. Located right on the Grand Geneva Resort property, their full menu of massage and body treatments will leave you with a wonderful feeling of calm. Additional services are available, as well as a hot tub, full salon and fitness center.
Where to play
Of course the girls need to have some fun, and I’m sharing some ways to have fun, while still taking it easy so that you can enjoy a relaxing getaway with the girls!
Lake Geneva Cruise Line
A Lake Geneva Cruise Line tour is a must and I highly recommend the luncheon tour which includes a full lunch complete with dessert. You’ll enjoy a 2 hour tour of Geneva Lake, learning about it’s rich history, while getting a glimpse at some of the colossal mansions along the shore.
Lunch is served inside the boat, so this tour is great rain or shine. Once lunch is finished, you’re invited to climb aboard the top deck of the boat if you want to enjoy the fresh air, though the view is perfect from anywhere inside or outside the boat.
Studio Winery
It’s not a girls getaway without wine and we had such fun sipping and painting at Studio Winery. They offer self-guided painting, which is actually pretty fun! You can also enjoy occasional live music on site and of course a glass of wine. It’s such a unique experience because the owners are completely hands on with Doug being the musician and winemaker, and Kathy the artist and label designer.
Fireside Dinner Theater
Just a short drive from Lake Geneva,?Fireside Dinner Theater is a must! With a full menu for lunch or dinner, then a show and shopping in between, you’re sure to enjoy some time with your gal pals!
Where to shop
The shopping in Lake Geneva is such fun with dozens of unique shops to choose from. I suggest starting at Cornerstone Shoppe since it’s right on the corner. They offer a multitude of items from designer clothing to beautiful decor for your lake home and unique gifts for weddings, birthdays and “just because”.
While you’re downtown, step inside some of the other shops for tasty ice cream treats, handmade candy and more. There is even an artisan mall that you will surely love! There is no shortage of shopping variety for all ages!
Where to eat
Lake Geneva offers a variety of fine and casual dining establishments and I highly recommend the Lasagna at Tuscan Tavern & Grill, with Tuxedo Cheesecake for dessert.
Geneva Chophouse is another favorite, located right inside Grand Geneva Resort. You’ll enjoy a full steak and seafood menu, as well as shareable sides and a breathtaking view of one of the property’s man-made lakes.
I hope this is able to help you plan the perfect vacation in Lake Geneva. The town offers so much for travelers and since it;s literally a 35 minute drive from my house, I will definitely be going back with the family for some fun later this summer or early fall!
A huge thank you to all of the places who helped make this trip amazing and to visitlakegeneva.com for putting it all together. Check out Maureen’s recap of our trip.
