When you think of Disney, you think of fun, excitement and the magic that Disney seems to bring out in us all. But with more and more multi-generational family trips being planned lately, I want to show a different side of Disney; a way for the entire family to create memories and magic while taking it easy at Disney. Sometimes you’ve got to slow down and take it all in and that’s what I’m going to share with you today!
My family and I were recently guests of the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation during a press trip at Disney World and even though it was our first time, this trip was every bit as magical as I could imagine a Disney vacation would be. But the difference is, we took it easy a bit. We had time to take it all in, bond as a family and create some awesome memories in the process.
The Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) and its Take Me Fishing? campaign encourages families to enjoy the beauty of nature while creating magical memories at Disney World. It allows families of all generations to do something new, while bonding together and making memories to share for years to come. In fact,?RBFF’s alliance with Disney has helped to create first fishing trips for many families!
It all starts at Fort Wilderness Landing where families are paired with a guide who will not only drive the boat, but teach them all about fishing, from baiting the hook to casting the line and reeling in your catch of the day. What’s great is that the guide knows all of the best spots to set up anchor so that you’re almost guaranteed to catch a lot of fish!
Lil Man had the best luck of us all and reeled in well over a dozen nice size large Mouth Bass. I actually caught a bunch too and it’s funny because I was doing Facebook Live videos for a portion of our fishing trip and I was even catching them during that! I’d have to carefully set my phone so that it could record the reeling in. It was pretty cool!
I think that I caught around 7 or 8 fish total during our fishing experience and The Man caught quite a bit too. Big Bro finally caught his first one right before we left!
My whole family really enjoyed the fishing experience and I especially loved being able to catch fish after fish. The guys fish pretty often at home and I usually just take a book along and read while they’re doing their thing. But my perspective has definitely changed after this trip and from now on, I’ll have a rod and reel in hand!
Fishing has really declined in past years so?RBFF started the Take Me Fishing? campaign to help share the joy of fishing while increasing participation in fishing. Their goal is? 60 million anglers in 60 months and is to empower families to fish while traveling.

When hunger strikes, there are plenty of restaurants to choose from within the resort and even a store where you c an purchase sandwiches, salads, pizzas and more, along with Disney memorabilia to take home with you.
But if you happen to be in the mood to leave the resort, just take a stroll down the pier to the lighthouse and you can hop on the ferry to the other side of the lake and hit the shops and restaurants on the Boardwalk. You can also take the other ferry (same pick up and drop off locations) to Epcot or Magic Kingdom.

After dinner, treat the family to an amazing show like no other. Watching the skies light up over Epcot was truly magical and the perfect way to end our first night at Disney. The boats get you into the best spot in the house for this epic show of fire and lights. It was by far the most mesmerizing show that I have ever seen and an absolutely must for your Disney itinerary.
