Since we moved out to the country, things have certainly changed for me and one of the things that surprises me the most is my deep affection for trucks. Sure, cars and SUVs/Crossovers are great, but there’s just something about a great big ole’ pickup truck that calls to me. Toyota recently provided me with the 2017 Toyota Tundra Limited Double Cab to check out for a week and boy, did we all love it!
From the moment that baby pulled into my driveway, I was smitten. The body of that beast is just beautiful and that burnt orange color really catches your eye. Depending on the light, it can look more red or orange, depending on the position of the sun, as you can see the difference between the photo above and the one below.
We tested this bad boy out on a road trip to Wisconsin’s North woods over Labor Day weekend and the truck held up to the traffic, road conditions and almost 2 extra hours of driving each way, thanks to the massive number of people on the roads.
Specs of the 2017 Toyota Tundra Limited Double Cab
The interior in the 2017 Toyota Tundra Limited Double Cab is rather spacious and offers a lot of great options for families, whether traveling or day to day driving. The seats are all leather trimmed, with heated front seats and 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat. The driver’s seat actually moves up, down and forward, allowing for easy driving no matter how short or tall you are.
I absolutely appreciate the Dual Zone Automatic Climate Control because my husband and I can never agree on the same temperature when we’re on a road trip. I’ll bet some of you can relate and that one thing that seems so little, can actually save a whole of of arguments! The vents actually spin in every single direction too which I absolutely love. This 2017 Toyota Tundra Limited Double Cab takes climate control to the extreme.
Of course you’ve got all of the other things that matter right there at your fingertips, like back up camera, radio functions, navigation and even the USB and AUX plugins. The center console is actually rather large too and can fit my entire full size handbag!
The rest of the center area is rather roomy too, offering 2 cup holders, a smaller holder, a slot for paperwork and even a little area for coins or other smaller things.
The back seat of the 2017 Toyota Tundra Limited Double Cab is rather spacious and kept both of my almost 6 foot tall boys comfortable during the entire 6 hour ride. There was no crying about space and I never felt a knee jab into my back, which is definitely a good thing! There is a little lever on each seat, which allows you to raise it up and either keep it up, or store things in the plastic stowaway compartments underneath the seat. It’s a perfect spot for your vehicle emergency kit.
I’m all about the looks and besides being a rather gorgeous truck all around, the 2017 Toyota Tundra Limited Double Cab offers a 6.5′ Double-Walled Bed with Rail Caps, a Deck Rail System with 4 adjustable tie down cleats and a Power Horizontal Rear Window with Privacy Glass. I like the side handle for the back doors too, as it;s some what unique!
Mechanical and Performance
Now we’re getting to the good stuff, the thing most people look for when purchasing a truck. I know, a truck can be pretty but if it doesn’t perform well, then it’s pretty useless. Well, good new guys, because this 2017 Toyota Tundra Limited Double Cab has an awful lot to offer.
- 5.7L V8 engine
- 6 speed automatic transmission with Sequential Shift
- Triple Tech Frame
- 38 gallon fuel tank
- Tow package, with a tow/haul mode
- Double Wishbone Front Suspension with Stabilizer Bar
- 20″ Alloy Wheels
There are so many more things that I could rave about when it comes to the 2017 Toyota Tundra Limited Double Cab, but I think you should go test drive one and see for yourself. Hop of the freeway, get some speed and listen to that motor purr.
