This post is in collaboration with Balance Your Plate and Stouffer’s. As part of the collaboration, I received product and incentives in exchange for participating in the program. Today, I’m sharing simple ways to balance your plate.
The holiday season is my favorite time of year. There’s just something extra special about the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving, continuing through the New Year. Perhaps it’s the gatherings with family and friends, or the genuineness of people letting us know what they’re thankful for in their lives. Or just maybe, it’s the way that everyone’s heart opens up to give to others. I’m not sure I can pinpoint exactly what it is that makes this time of year extra special, but I sure do enjoy it.
We often gather during the holidays and I’m one of those people who has?to ensure that everyone is fed and no one ever leaves my house hungry.?Some gatherings are spontaneous and I like to have things on hand to help simplify our dinner, such as?Stouffer’s?Lasagna with Meat and Sauce. Its freshly made pasta layered between a rich meat sauce and topped with real?mozzarella cheese is a family size dish that’s delicious and is great to balance a meal around.
Simple Ways to Balance Your Plate
To ensure that we’re all getting the nutrition that we need, I like to balance our plate of Stouffer’s?Lasagna with Meat and Sauce?with a side of Caesar Chopped Salad and fresh bread sticks. Salad, pasta and bread definitely go hand in hand so this really is a perfect pairing. You can grab my Caesar Chopped salad Recipe,?then grab some fresh bread sticks from your supermarket’s bakery.
When it’s time for dessert, skip the sugar filled treats and opt for some fresh fruit instead. Fresh fruit isn’t just good for you, it’s delicious too!
Stouffer’s new “Kitchen Cupboard” commitment focuses on shortening and simplifying recipes to include only ingredients that families can recognize and find at home. For instance, Stouffer’s?Lasagna with Meat and Sauce?is made with vine-ripened tomatoes, freshly made pasta, and real mozzarella so it’s something that we can feel good about serving our families.?With fewer ingredients, Stouffer’s?Lasagna with Meat and Sauce still offers the same great taste we’ve become accustomed to.
Studies show that a shocking amount of Americans aren’t getting their MyPlate recommendations for vegetables, fruit, proteins, dairy and grains during most of the year. In fact, only 7 of the 365 days are met for MyPlate recommendations! Focused on simple solutions, balance My Plate helps people put together meals that incorporate both frozen and fresh foods to complete a delicious and nutritious meal. I’ve shared mine; now go check out the #balanceyourplate hashtag on social media to see what simple and nutritious meal ideas other bloggers are sharing.
