Back to school season can be rough. We’re all used to sleeping in a little, having a bit of a relaxed summer schedule and just soaking up the sun. But reality has hit and it’s time to get back to the grind. Luckily I’ve been through this whole routine a time or two, so I’ve got some tips and tricks up my sleeve and I’m excited to share these tips to get in the back to school groove.
Tips to Get in the Back to School Groove
- A few weeks before school starts (or at least 1 week before), make sure everyone starts getting used to their school year bedtime routine. Go to bed and wake up at the same times that you do during the school season. This will train your body and mind to get back into that routine so it won’t be as hard to get used to once school starts.
- Prep, make and pack lunches the night before. Stick them in the refrigerator overnight so that everything gets nice and cold. You might want to make sandwiches fresh in the morning though.
- Make a designated snack basket for lunch snacks and keep it off limits for other snacking options. Let the kids choose a snack or two each day for their lunches. We like to keep Entenmann’s® Little Bites™ Snacks in our basket.
- Plan outfits the night before, and if possible lay everything out. That helps to make mornings run smoother because it’s quicker for everyone to get ready.
You may remember the lunch ideas for big kids that I shared last month and now I’ve got some more to share. Keep it balanced with a protein, fruit, whole grain bread and a snack. An Egg, Avocado & Tomato sandwich on Nature’s Harvest® bread and Entenmann’s® Little Bites™ Snacks Crumb Cakes make a simple, yet wholesome and delicious lunch option.
