Strider Balance Bike from their Sport line, is a pedal free, 12″, two wheel bike with eight years of design and improvements behind it. It is recommended for up to age five, but my guy is on the smaller side and it is the perfect size for him. Included in the sport is an XL seat saddle and long seatpost for children over the age of three; up to a 19″ adjustment. The seat is also all-weather, because you know sometimes, it might accidentally be left outdoors, along with being specifically designed for smaller hips. (I’m about 5’3″ and I could fit on the bike to show him how to kick off, this is 100% designed for small frames!) The lighter seat also allows for proper riding position and posture!
The handlebars, 12.7mm steel, are 43% smaller than standard children’s bikes, which is perfect for small hands to grasp. The grips themselves are made of soft urethane with protective ends, so they’re comfortable and safe for your child’s hands. Adjustment is 18-22″ with no tools required thanks to the machine-aluminum quick release. The bar seat and clamp also have the quick release height adjustment, from 11-16″ for the perfect no tool adjustment for your child!
The wheels are Strider-exclusive. A five-spoke, lightweight, one-piece design with 10 bearing support gussets for maximum strength. The quality sealed bearings never need adjustment. The tires are made of EVA polymer making them lightweight but durable, never need to be inflated, so they’ll never go flat! Now that’s a big win in my book!
Pedal-free doesn’t meant there isn’t a place for little ones to rest their feet! The unique, frame-integrated rest is positioned directly below the seat for natural balancing. Once your child is used to balancing, they can use the rest to stand while gliding, as well as pumping and jumping the bike. We’re not quite to that stage, but, I can definitely see my little guy getting the hang of standing one day!
Although sold separately, there is an exclusive rear brake mount that can be attached once your child is efficient and gliding.
We are loving the Strider Balance Bike, although a bit weary of falling, I think once he’s over the first initial fall, or not, he’ll be gliding and zooming all over. With the high quality build, our Strider will last through Sonshine learning to balance as well as in the future if we are so lucky to have any more kids, or even sharing it with our friends! The bikes are also available in an array of colors, allowing your little one their favorite color and a little style as well. Strider makes the perfect first bike for all the little ones on your holiday list!
