The Milwaukee area has so much to offer in the summertime. You’ll find festivals around town each and every weekend, Summerfest, State Fair and one of my favorites – Brewer games! We love to attend games and tailgate with our friends. It’s almost like a right of passage through summer and the games are so much fun! I always head to Pick ‘n Save before games to pick up everything we need for the perfect tailgate party.
I wanted to share some of my tailgate favorites with you, so I headed to Pick ‘n Save earlier this week to grab a few things. Of course, I had to get some cheese. I am a “Cheese Head” after all!
Now when it comes to tailgating, there are no rules to what you can eat. There are many foods that are perfect for tailgating, but since we’re usually lugging things around in a cooler, I like to keep things simple. But keep in mind that simple can still be creative and delicious!
Our Brewers tailgating menu included Stuffed Pepper Jack Bacon Hot Dogs, Zesty Italian Pasta Salad and Chips and Dip. It was certainly a crowd pleaser and easy enough to prep beforehand. The Stuffed Pepper Jack Bacon Hot Dogs just took a few minutes to prepare and turned out oh so good. I’ve included the easy to follow recipe?for you below.
You’ll need Sargento Pepper Jack Cheese Slices (cut into thirds), bacon, hot dogs and toothpicks. The beauty of these is that you can make one or you can make twenty. It’s totally up to you!
First, you’ll need to cut a slit in each hotdog, down the entire length, but not cutting all the way through. You’ll basically make a pocket for the cheese. Once all of the hot dogs are slit, fold each piece of cheese in half, then stuff into the little pocket of the hot dog.
Next, you’ll wrap a slice of bacon around each cheese stuffed hot dog, securing both ends well with a toothpick., poking through one side of the hot dog and out the other. This will ensure that the bacon stays on and the cheese should stay inside the hot dog between it and the layer of bacon.
Grill them to perfections and enjoy. They are quite tasty!
Now if you’re going to a tailgate party, just place them into a large container or zipper bag and place them on ice until you’re ready to cook!
Ok, so we all know that a tailgate is not a party until there is alcohol involved, so I thought I would share my newest drink of choice with you. It is simply amazing and when you use Skyy Vodka, you’d never even know it contained alcohol!
This delicious cocktail?is very easy to make and you can grab the?Strawberry Mango Tango Smoothie Cocktail recipe here.
