After moving to the United States, from England, Samuel Bath Thomas, an innovator and entrepreneur, created the Original “Nooks & Crannies” English Muffin through a secret process that included griddle baking to create a muffin that was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. He later opened his own bakery in New York City in 1880. Soon, Thomas? English Muffins would become a popular part of the American breakfast.
Thomas’ is a weekly buy in our household. I can always count on my little guy to sink his teeth into one of their delicious, slightly crunchy English Muffins and my husband and I just love the Everything Bagels when we get the rare morning breakfast with each other. Sometimes, we get stuck in a rut with the same flavors, but luckily, the new limited edition for 2014 have been d?buted, making our mornings a lot sweeter!
Have you noticed the dessert is for breakfast flavor trend that’s picking up lately? Thomas’ has and brought out the new Limited Edition Cinnamon Vanilla English Muffins and Maple French Toast Bagels. If you’re a Thomas’ fan, you’ll know that the Maple French Toast is reappearing this year as a fan favorite flavor, but Cinnamon Vanilla is the only brand new flavor! The bagels have a nice, sweet yet homemade flavor to them and are great straight out of the bag or toasted with a smear of cream cheese!
My son and I are obsessed with the Cinnamon Vanilla English Muffins. Look at those nooks and crannies! You can see the swirls of cinnamon and just smell the vanilla before even opening the package. The four year old likes to eat them at room temperature with nothing on it. I like them a variety of ways, like crispy and crunchy from the toaster with just a little butter to balance the sweetness and slightly spiciness. Inspired by the taste of cinnamon buns, the English Muffins are subtly sweet without an overpowering cinnamon flavor.
Don’t shy away from adding a delicious, runny egg in between those muffins! The only thing that could have helped enhance the sweetness would have been some smoky bacon. A little sharp cheddar and nothing could make the rest of the day bad. Not into the sweet and savory sandwiches? My four year old loves using English Muffins as the base for french toast!
Just mix two eggs with a teaspoon of vanilla and cinnamon. Drag the English Muffins through the mixture and fry in a pan! That’s it! Simple, but, delicious!
Top with either syrup or powdered sugar and enjoy! You don’t need a lot of extra flavoring with the already scrumptious flavors inside of the Cinnamon Vanilla English Muffins.
If you’re looking for a new, sweet treat to start your mornings off with, then grab a bag or two of these new Limited Edition flavors from the Thomas’ Family.
