My daughter has decided that she does not want a character bedroom. She wants a fancy bedroom with all the trimmings. So what did I do? I began looking through all my interior decorating books. Although my idea is not complete I decided to go with a swag look. I can remember back when I was in middle/high school living with my grandmother and she was on another decorating kick. She saw this new device they were using to make valances and that device inspired my creation. Although I searched my stash for something similar I could not find it, and being so frugal I decided to try a few things before I ran out and bought anything.
Materials
- 5 ft 10″ X 12 ft 10″ tulle of your choice of color
- 2 ponytail holders
STEP 1: First you need to find the center of your tulle. Once you find the center extend it out in front of the window you would like to use the swag for (keeping the center point of the swag in the center of your window).
STEP 2: Once you get your length of the window established begin gathering your tulle. I gathered approximately 12″ total = 6″ per side of the gather. Then you bind it with a ponytail holder of the same color/hue. Do this for both ends of your swag.
STEP 4: Your swag is finished! Take down your curtain rod and string one of your ponytail holders on the rod. Then string your other ponytail holder at the end of the curtain rod and hang. Make sure you fluff your swag for desired results.
