The Zombie Pets brand was created by Des Moines, Iowa-based toy manufacturer, Bulls i Toy. Founded in 2009, Bulls i Toy is known for the development and distribution of trading cards, dog tags, chibis and collect-a-bands for several popular international toy and entertainment brands including Marvel, AMC, Trash Pack, Hasbro and Warner Brothers with licenses for everything from Marvel Heroes, The Hobbit, Angry Birds and SpongeBob to Despicable Me 2, Hello Kitty, and Dora the Explorer.
I’m not sure what sparked my love and great fear of zombies. After episodes of The Walking Dead, you can usually hear me sobbing after having a nightmare, but as soon as I hear someone whisper the word zombies, my ears perk up and I start hopping around! And now I’ve passed this weird obsession on to my four year old, who shrieks in mock terror when you moan brains before collapsing in a fit of giggles. So I’m always on the lookout for age appropriate zombie items, which can be pretty difficult, at least, that was until this box appeared on my doorstep.
Hmmm. What could be in there?
AHHH!
They’re so adorable in their deadness! If they were real, I’d be zombie meat because you can’t help but cuddle them in their gory glory. Not even my scary light filter could diminish their cuteness.
Zombie Pets by Bulls i Toys are the happenstance of a miraculous pet-healing invention gone wrong. Arcadia’s veterinarian, Dr. Stan, tirelessly battles his arch nemesis, Boris the evil animal control officer who has taken some of his pet friends hostage after busting the Pawpetuator healing machine. Now Dr. Stan and his undead pet pals work to restore the peace of Arcadia while attempting to banish Boris before it’s too late!
Buttercup Caponey is a trusty mare who has a wild side. She has a lethal buck-and-split combination move that strikes fear into her enemies.
There are six other Zombie Pets as well: Baxter Were-Wolf (dog), Nigel Hitchsquawk (parrot), Squeaker Bates (hamster), Diego Vorheeez (monkey), Sheldon Draco (turtle), and Mittens VonScratchula (cat).
The Zombie Pets is a free app, where each player starts with a free pet named Bacon Compsky. To use your plush Zombie Pets, just scan the QR code on their tag. Your pet will now be playable in the game! You can also purchase separately something called Fun Packs which contains stickers, a pop-up a cling, and a Power-Up coin for reactivation notices and extra bonuses. Gold coins are worth $6, silver $4, and bronze are worth $2.
The game is full of age appropriate fun (4+) that helps encourage problem solving, imagination, and creativity. Nothing scary here. They make the perfect stocking stuffers or imagine a box full of all eight plushies waiting for your zombie loving child to open this holiday season!
