OK, confession…I never use dryer sheets because 1. I’m cheap and 2. I use cloth diapers and they are a NO NO, and not using them makes it less confusing for hubs. But since I stumbled on this super easy, and inexpensive way to make Never Ending dryer sheets using liquid fabric softener?and sponges I’m hooked.
These DIY dryer sheets are so easy to make and will last you a really long time, maybe not a never ending time, but a long time.
DIY Dryer Sheets
Here’s what you will need:
-
1 cup of your favorite liquid fabric softener
-
2 cups of water
-
4 cheapo sponges
-
Resealable container to store liquid and sponges in
How to do it:
-
Mix 1 cup liquid fabric softener and 2 cups water in container.
-
Cut your sponges in half and add them to container.
-
Let the sponges soak in liquid until you are ready to use them. When ready to use grab a sponge and let excess fabric softener drip off and toss into your dryer with your clothes.
-
Once your laundry is dry remove sponge and put it back into the container so you can use it another time.
So easy right? And the best part is that they work wonderfully. I used the dryer sponges on my kids laundry last night, and their clothes came out smelling really good and better yet NO STATIC. Like I said earlier?I usually do not use fabric softener, but with Winter being here in CNY and the dry air our clothes have been more stat-icky than usual and these dryer sponges are going to be a life saver.
ENJOY!
Is Downy the only fabric softener you can use for This dryer sheet
You can use whichever you prefer.
This is great thank you! We have also been using fabric softener to make our own “febreeze” type spray!
I do the same thing. I also make these and have been for years! Great idea!

Very good Idea ! This saves on buying fabric softener all the time! Very economical!
I make my own liquid fabric softener. Does anyone know if I can use homemade fabric softener for the sponges? I may try it. But I’d like to know if anyone else has tried it?
I would imagine so
Any suggestions on measurements if using fabric softener beads instead?
No sorry. One of our previous writers wrote this, and this is the method she used.
