I will be the first to admit that growing up I was not that into Barbies. I was a bit of a tomboy and I only played with them at other people’s houses. I now have two daughters and they are OBSESSED with Barbies. We have the mansion and more barbies than I personally would know what to do with. They both ooze pink and sparkles that makes me wonder who they get their girliness from! The mere mention of hosting a Barbie DVD viewing party for them and their girlfriends and I was met with a host of squees of excitement that obviously meant yes. We already own one Barbie DVD and now Barbie Mariposa and the Fairy Princess DVD comes out today the 27th.
For the day of the party they both dressed the part. Into their homemade Barbie attire they went. The shirts are made with fabric Barbie heads traced, cut out and glued onto a shirt. With the help of my Mother in Law she made some super cute tutus with Barbie ribbon.
Of course this was a Fairy Princess Barbie party so they needed wings. All the guests got to decorate their own wings that they could actually wear!
Little fairies can get hungry quickly so of course we had a variety of themed snacks to keep appetites at bay during decorating and movie watching.
First off we started with the obligatory veggie tray to counter balance the sweeter and sugary snacks to come.
Then cucumber sandwiches in fun shapes and the perfect sizes for little fingers.
Most kids I know love fresh fruit and it adds for a colorful look at any Barbie Party.
No Barbie party is complete without cupcakes. Ours were strawberry cake with vanilla icing and lots of colorful sprinkles!
For added decorations one of the Fairy Barbies sat in the middle of the table. This was an easy way to get all the girls excited!
To make viewing the movie extra exciting the girls got to enjoy it while eating strawberries and cream popcorn. These were extremely sticky!
Big Sis especially loved this Barbie Mariposa & The Fairy Princess Doll. On her back you spin the knob and it becomes like a dress in the picture on the left below. Then you press the butterfly on her necklace and the wings fly open like on the right photo. She played with this Barbie for an hour straight!
Now my girls want the Fairy Princess Castle Play Set to go with their new Barbies.

We had a blast watching the movie and sharing our love of Barbie with our friends. Last year my girls shared a Barbie themed birthday party and it is looking like that is going to be what they ask for again this year. Do you have any Barbie fans in your house?
