How We Can Make the World #BetterTogether and Cross Off Hunger

Hunger hits many people across the country. Oftentimes we don’t see it because we somehow turn a blind eye and act as though it doesn’t exist. But, nonetheless, hunger really does exist in America, as well as across the globe. There are so many ways that we can help make the world #BetterTogether in our everyday lives, ways many of us may not even realize!

#BetterTogether cross off hunger

Unilever is committed to making life better through their family of brands. You can help with their Cross Off Hunger initiative to donate to families in need simply by buying the products that you might already use in your home! Unilever is committed to donating more than two million meals to families in need with Feeding America and every item on your shopping list counts. Show your support by adding Unilever brands to your cart next time you shop. Together we can help to Cross Off Hunger.

After taking a look at the Unilever site and checking out their family of brands, I was quite surprised to find many brands that we already use at home. Brands such as Popsicle {the kids’ favorite!}, Suave, Caress, Axe, Dove, Lipton, Knorr, Wish Bone, Hellmann’s and many more. You’d probably be surprised at some of the products that you already use too!

I am a giving person, and while I don’t have a whole lot to give, I like to give what I can to help others in need. So I headed to the Unilever Making Life Better site to do some research and see what my family can do to help.

It starts with the Cross off Hunger checklist. Since learning is the first step, you earn a “hunger badge” for each section you complete.

  • First, determine what food banks really need. You might be surprised to know that #6 is personal care items, so you can donate more than just food!
  • Take a virtual tour of a food bank. Did you know that one of the best ways to help is through volunteering? They need help organizing and distributing all of that food!
  • Test your hunger IQ and learn the top 10 facts about hunger in America. I was shocked to learn that more than 17 million children don’t have enough food on their tables. That’s so disheartening.
  • Find food banks in your area by simply typing in your zip code and hitting enter. However, there are many other places that you can donate food and personal care products to besides the major food banks. Most communities have one. Many churches even have a food bank inside to help with the entire community, not just it’s members!

Armed with $50 to spend on Unilever products, I headed off to Walmart with my sister and Big Bro. Big Bro kept track of what we were spending, while I decided what to buy {with his help at times of course!} Knowing that each item we purchased would help feed America warmed our hearts. We filled our cart and have even bigger plans on more ways that we can help!

Stay tuned later this week to find out what we’ll do with some of the items that we purchased!
