We had a cookout Saturday and after everyone left we turned off the radio and the man and I sat around the fire. It was so quiet and peaceful. All the sudden something swooped into our yard from between our house and our neighbor’s house. We thought it was a bat at first until it flew onto our deck under the light, and he realized it was a Lunar Moth. It was so big! It’s wingspan was larger than the length of a cigarette!
It flew around the light for awhile, then eventually flew through the window in our back hallway. It stayed in there all night, even though we left the window and door open for it. I thought it was dead the next day because it was still there.
His brother came over and took it outside and set it on that flower to take a picture. It eventually flew away.
Isn’t it gorgeous?
I know the bosy is a little creepy, but the wings are beautiful!
